Shortcuts won’t get you there faster.
--
There are places around the world that you can only get to if you travel a long and dangerous path. These places are usually the most beautiful places in the world. And as a result of the inherent danger, only a few people have ever seen these places in person. There is also a lot of preparation that goes on before starting the trip that is usually just as hard. But in the end, all the hard work and peril is worth it because the payoff is so big.
Most people don’t know how to handle delayed gratification. Couple this will extremely hard work and this group gets smaller and smaller. It’s important to understand the the most fulfilling things you can accomplish happen because of that formula. If you follow it, there will be times when you want to pull your hair out because you don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. People find it difficult to stay motivated if they do not see an end in sight. Quitting is always at the front of their mind.
If you can manage to stick with something long enough, you’ll be more than rewarded for all your hard work. Your blood, sweat and tears are the currency for your success. People who are an “overnight success” become successful after years of hard work. Don’t be fooled by the notion that you can take shortcuts to the top.
So prepare yourself for your journey. Your mind, body and soul must all be strong to make it through your journey. Start strong and persevere the whole way. Don’t let anyone distract you from your objective. People who want to put obstacles in your way are the ones that took the easy path at one time and were discouraged and now try to discourage others. Do your work day in and day out and you will make progress toward what you are working towards. Everyday your destination will be more and more within reach. Once you complete your journey you can look back at all you have done and be proud.
